Meet the Director
My name is Anna Thompson, and I am the Founder and Lead Educator of Exceptional Village Academy. I started EVA because I believe every student deserves a teacher who sees them for who they are, understands how they learn, and champions their potential every day.
At EVA, one dedicated teacher guides your child through every subject, and that teacher is me. Because I teach every subject, I see how your child reads, reasons, and handles challenges across the whole school day. When a math struggle connects to a reading gap, I spot it and address it that same week. You get one point of contact, one consistent voice, and one partner who knows your child well.
I hold both a bachelor's and a master's degree in special education. That training shapes how I personalize each lesson, track progress, and adjust the path for every learner.
Across more than thirty years in education, the moments I remember most are the students. I remember the conversations, the breakthroughs, the tears, and the laughter. I have watched quiet students find their voice, discouraged students rediscover their confidence, and learners who once doubted themselves accomplish things they never believed possible. Those moments taught me that growth happens when someone believes in a student before the student believes in themselves. Education means helping young people discover who they are, trust what they can do, and leave with the confidence to build a life they love. I feel grateful that EVA lets me be part of these stories, and every student who joins becomes part of that journey.
Our regionally accredited program blends scheduled live Zoom classes for discussion and coaching with self-paced lessons that fit around family life. Streamlined systems and expert-designed curriculum support that work, so students enjoy a clear weekly rhythm with room for flexibility. Black history, literature, and entrepreneurship run through every subject, so students see their heritage as part of the core curriculum.
Our name reflects our belief that a village raises a child. I partner with parents through weekly updates, direct access, and shared goals, and together we build an environment where your child belongs and thrives.
